Why garages in Texas need a real coating system
North Texas garages take a beating: expansive clay soils shift the slab, summer heat softens cheap coatings, and hot tires can pull up a poorly bonded floor (a failure called "hot tire pickup"). A professionally installed epoxy or polyaspartic system solves all three. Our garage floor epoxy process
The coating is only as good as the prep. Here is exactly how we install every garage floor:
- Diamond grinding. We mechanically grind the entire slab with industrial diamond tooling to open the concrete's pores. We never acid-etch — grinding is the single biggest reason our floors don't peel.
- Crack & joint repair. Cracks, spalls and pitting are filled with a structural polymer and ground flush so the finished floor is smooth.
- Moisture check. We test the slab for moisture vapor, which is common on DFW slabs, and select a coating chemistry that will bond.
- Base coat. A high-solids epoxy or polyaspartic base coat is applied for adhesion and build.
- Decorative flake or metallic. Vinyl flake is broadcast to full refusal (or a metallic pigment is troweled and manipulated) to your chosen color blend.
- Polyaspartic topcoat. A UV-stable clear topcoat locks everything in, adds slip resistance and delivers the final gloss.

Flake (chip) floors are the most popular garage choice — durable, slip-resistant, and forgiving of minor slab imperfections, with custom color blends. Metallic floors create a high-gloss, marbled, showroom look and are ideal if your garage doubles as a display or shop. Solid-color systems are the most economical and give a clean, uniform finish. All three can be finished with a polyaspartic topcoat for UV stability and next-day parking.
How long does installation take?
Most 2-car garages are completed in one day with a polyaspartic system, or over two days with a traditional epoxy build. You can walk on the floor within a few hours and park vehicles in about 24 hours. The garage must be empty on install day so we can grind and coat the full slab.
